iGlue goes live to the public!

We are very proud to announce that iGlue and the IceCube has been launched to the public today. We’re very excited to to finally see it out in the wild, and we hope you are too. We’ve made lots of changes to previous test versions to create what we think is the best in browser search interface around. Available in bookmarklet or plug in form, you can get either immediately by clicking here.

For those of you who are new to iGlue Community, please have a flick through some of the features listed below, but even better just head over and try it for yourself.

Some of the benefits of iGlue in everyday use:

Making info easier to find.

The IceCube widget is designed to be the simplest way to read around a subject. For example, an article on recent floods in Pakistan on www.bbc.co.uk may mention names or places some of us know little about. With one click you can explore more on a subject, see where it is located, how old it is, view biographies, information about its connections to other places or people.

Finding the right info immediately.

Due to iGlue’s unique semantic search engine, the IceCube widget offers real connections, rather than just keyword search. The IceCube can understand the meaning of words, for example a search of JFK can reveal whether the article refers to the airport, the person or even a public library.

Updated by the world.

The IceCube also allows any user to add to our database with just a few clicks. Users can simply click on text or even images and add a tag to them right inside the article – these updates are immediate and for all to access. This human interaction builds not only the iGlue database, but also a loyal community across the globe.
